Issue IV: King Olav V's Regency 1957-1991

Norwegian coinage underwent big changes from 1957-1991. Most notable was the de-monetization of the 1, 2, 5, 10 and 25-øre coins, and the replacement of the 5 and 10-Krone banknotes with corresponding coins. In addition, the Central Bank of Norway liberalized its strict issue policies for commemorative coins, enabling the celebration of certain important national events on both circulating and precious metal coins.

This set contains the last circulating coin issued with king Olav's portrait, the 25-Krone silver coin issued for the 25th anniversary of the WWII liberation - the only coin where king Olav's portrait faces right - as well as the 50-Krone silver coin issued for king Olav's 75th birthday - considered by many to be Norway's most beautiful coin ever.
