This coin celebrates Trenčín as European Capital of Culture 2026.
From 1 January 2026, the cities of Trenčín in Slovakia and Oulo in Finland are European Capitals of Culture. The initiative is supported by the EU through the Creative Europe programme.
The obverse design features a stylized image of Trenčín’s iconic castle and symbols of arts such as a palette, film camera and mask. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag .
The reverse is the standard 2 euro design featuring a map of Europe and the denomination. |
