In 2026, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to an icon and one of the most influential women of the 20th century: Marilyn Monroe on what would have been her 100th birthday.

Famous throughout the world and transcending generations, Marilyn Monroe remains a symbol of glamour and pop culture to this day.

Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model, singer, writer, and filmmaker. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, she became a top-billed actress and sex symbol of the 1950s and early 1960s, known for her "blonde bombshell" roles. Monroe appeared in 44 films between 1946 and 1962, grossing $200 million by the time of her unexpected death from a barbiturate overdose at age 36.

The obverse features a portrait of Marilyn Monroe and a background of stars, which echoes the stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
