This issue marks the 100th anniversary of the YLE Broadcasting Company, Finland’s national public broadcasting company.

Finland’s national public broadcasting company was founded in 1926 and broadcast live radio from a small studio in downtown Helsinki. Today, YLE provides three national television channels, 13 radio channels and online services, and 25 regional radio stations.

The obverse represents a deeper meaning: modern people often live in separate information bubbles that distort reality and limit their view of the world around them. Public broadcasting breaks these information bubbles and brings people and communities closer to shared knowledge and content.

The reverse is the standard 2 euro design featuring a map of Europe and the denomination.
