This is the seventh coin in the Royal Tudor Beasts Collection which represents the ten heraldic beasts that flank the Moat Bridge of Hampton Court Palace, representing the lineage of Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour.
The Queen's Panther was given to Jane Seymour by Henry VIII to embody his third wife’s legitimacy. Differentiating from the Seymour Panther, the Queen’s Panther holds the impaled Arms of Henry VIII that bears the Coat of Augmentation bestowed upon her.
The reverse is based on the Queen’s Panther sculpture that stands at the mouth of the gate on the iconic Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace.
This Brilliant Uncirculated cupro-nickel coin is housed in a blister-pack type folder with informative text and illustrations that explores the heraldry of Henry VIII and his third wife.
