This issue pays homage to the extraordinary Mary Poppins, the beloved character cherished by multiple generations.
The classic childhood character Mary Poppins first blew in on an east wind to Number Seventeen, Cherry Tree Lane more than 90 years ago. P. L. Travers’ classic children’s books saw the practically perfect nanny take the Banks children on several magical adventures over the course of an eight-book series.
Mary Poppins was immortalized by Julie Andrews in her film debut playing the title role in Walt Disney's Mary Poppins (1964), for which she won the Academy Award in 1965 for Best Actress.
The reverse features a design based on an original illustration by Mary Shepherd that first appeared in the Mary Poppins books (1934-1988), that shows Mary Poppins making her way on the east wind with her umbrella and carpet bag in hand.
