To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Antonio Machado, the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda has issued a commemorative coin depicting this poet and playwright.

Antonio Cipriano José María y Francisco de Santa Ana Machado y Ruiz, known as Antonio Machado (1875-1939), was a Spanish poet and one of the leading figures of the Spanish literary movement known as the Generation of '98. His work, initially modernist, evolved towards an intimate form of symbolism with romantic traits.

The obverse shows the number 150 in the background. Above it are images of a suitcase with books, a navy and orange blossom flowers. At the bottom of the coin, in curved form, is the legend 1875-2025.

The reverse shows an image of Antonio Machado, corresponding to a photograph taken by Alfonso Sánchez Pórtela. The poet's signature appears to the left of the image, above a drawing of a feather. The lower part of the coin bears the legend 150 ANIVERSARIO ANTONIO MACHADO in curved capital letters.
