This issue honors the Catholic Church's Jubilee Year 2025, themed "Pilgrims of Hope."

The Jubilee Year 2025 commenced on Christmas Eve 2024 with the opening of the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica, Rome, and continues until January 6, 2026, offering a time for spiritual renewal and forgiveness.

Millions of pilgrims are expected to travel to Rome and other holy sites to participate in Jubilee events and seek spiritual renewal.

The Jubilee Year 2025 is celebrated with a design that combines artistic craftmanship with a profound spiritual meaning. At the center of the coin's obverse is a depiction of the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican, which will remain open throughout the Holy Year as a universal symbol of faith and hope. Above is the arch-shaped inscription "IUBILAEUM" (Jubilee), while at the bottom, also in an arch to close the Latin inscription, a series of alternating empty and full fish, as a symbol of Christianity.

The reverse is the standard pan-European reverse of the €2 coin.
