This is the 10th issue in the series "Italy's food and wine culture" and is dedicated to the culinary specialties of the Piedmont (Piedmont = Foothills) region.

Piedmont is an semi-Alpine land of art and unique flavours such as chocolates and the prized Barolo wine, together with the exquisite architecture of the Mole Antonelliana and Palace of Venaria Reale in Turin, one of the palaces of the House of Savoy, and the 15th century Basilica of Sant’Andrea in Mantua.

The obverse features an urban landscape created with bars of some of the typical chocolates of the Piedmont region, such as cri cri, gianduiotto, boero and cremino. In the center we find the Mole Antonelliana, the symbolic building of Turin; and in the top left, a decanter, a glass and a barrel made of fine wood representing the Barolo wine, excellence of the region. We also see the skyline of the Alps.

The reverse offers a view of the Gardens of the Royal Palace of Venaria Reale, residence of the Savoy family located in Turin, showing the majestic Fountain of Hercules Colossus, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This view is framed by a detail of the rose window of the Basilica of Sant'Andrea.
