This issue honors the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of the Rights of Citizens & Fundamental Principles of the San Marino Constitution.
On July 12, 1974, San Marino passed the law that included a declaration outlining the rights of citizens and the fundamental principles of San Marino's legal system. The Declaration commences with a rejection of war and asserts the sovereignty of the people. It elaborates on the application of the separation of powers doctrine in San Marino. Furthermore, it guarantees citizens certain rights, such as equality, inviolability, freedom, and universal suffrage.
The obverse depicts an open book with the inscription THE RIGHTS OF THE PERSON ARE INVIOLABLE, stylized, surmounted by the profiles of the Public Palace and the Statue of Liberty. |
