This issue honors the neurologist Rita Levi-Montalcini (1909-2012).
In 1986, she received the Nobel Prize for Medicine for the discovery of growth factors.
The tenacity, courage, and unparalleled abilities of scientist Rita Levi-Montalcini in an obverse portrait by photographer Manuela Fabbri. In the background, a microscope on a horseshoe base - a symbol of luck drawn from a work by her brother Gino Levi-Montalcini - tells the extraordinary journey of the only Italian woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Medicine.
