This is the seventh release in the series, “Wonderful world of insects”, which will see a total of nine coins with partially colored designs issued in the period 2022-24.

The series brings into focus a particular group of beings that make up a significant part of our natural heritage, against the backdrop of insect extinction.

The obverse shows the marmalade hoverfly approaching a flower and about to land on it. The insect, placed centrally in the coin circle, gives the design depth. In addition, the body of the fly and the flowers surrounding it are finely and very successfully modeled, and the transparency of the wings is skillfully depicted.

The common reverse will be used for all coins in the series, features an eagle, the words “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the value and denomination, the year date, the twelve stars of Europe and the letter F for the Stuttgart mint.
