This is the ninth and final release in the series, “Wonderful world of insects”, which will see a total of nine coins with partially colored designs issued in the period 2022-24.

The series brings into focus a particular group of beings that make up a significant part of our natural heritage, against the backdrop of insect extinction.

The rock bumblebee is one of the most common and best-known bumblebee species in Central Europe.

The obverse shows shows a female rock bumblebee, easily recognizable by its velvety black body and the red end of the abdomen, sitting on a flower surrounded by stylized and composed hints of other plant flowers.

The common reverse will be used for all coins in the series, features an eagle, the words “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the value and denomination, the year date, the twelve stars of Europe and the letter J for the Hamburg mint.
