This coin highlights the importance of free elections as the foundation
of democracy. The universal and equal right to vote has provided the people of Finland, with the prerequisites to influence social
decision-making for more than 100 years.
The obverse features stylized ballots that symbolize democracy – i.e. people power. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag.
