This issue is part of the “Croatian Cities” series, featuring designs that represent the historic building in the City of Varaždin, and that hold significant historical and cultural value for the Republic of Croatia. This image was one of the main motifs on the reverse side of the old 5 kuna banknote.

The design features the fortress “The Old Town of Varaždin” and the inscriptions: the issuing country “HRVATSKA” (Croatia), the year of issuance “2024.” and the name of the fortress “STARI GRAD VARAŽDIN” (Old Town of Varaždin). The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
