Within the grounds of the Hiroshima branch of the Japan Mint stand many
varieties of cherry trees. They include some transplanted from the head
office in Osaka, famous for its "Sakura-no-toorinuke." Since 1991, a
part of the grounds of the Hiroshima branch has been opened to the
public when the cherry trees are in blossom viewing under the name
"Hana-no-mawarimichi."
The cherry blossom of the year is “Benitemari," which gets its name from the crimson flowers that blossom in a shape reminiscent of traditional temari knitted balls. Benitemari is a very rare kind of cherry (Sakura), not seen in many other locations.
Highly limited and hard to find outside of Japan, this set is limited to 28,000 sets issued - but ONLY 50 sets are earmarked for markets outside of Japan!!
