Vatican City (officially the State of the Vatican City) is a landlocked sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the city of Rome, the capital city of Italy. On the reverse of the 20 euro silver coin, artist Orietta Rossi depicts the three Magi riding two horses and a camel as they proceed united, following the comet star. Pope Francis has spoken several times on the importance of the role of the Magi. In his homily at the conclusion of the 55th Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2022, the Pope said, “Traditionally, the Magi have been portrayed with colorful robes that represent the various peoples. In them, we can see reflected our own differences, our different Christian traditions and experiences, but also our unity.”
