Struck from 1oz of pure silver in a colorized format, this delightful animal coin celebrates another one of Australia’s famous pouched marsupials – the wombat.
One of the world’s largest burrowing animals, the wombat is perfectly built for tunnelling with powerful limbs and claws. The female even features a backwards opening pouch designed to avoid smothering its joey while digging underground.
The coin portrays a cute, colorized image of a wombat dozing amid flowering billy buttons with a blue fairywren perched on its back. This coin portrays the official ‘Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse’, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’.
