This issue commemorates the 25th anniversary of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu (1910-1997), better known as Mother Teresa, was an Indian-Albanian Catholic nun who, in 1950, founded the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India, to look after abandoned babies and to help the poorest of the poor, once saying that they "lived like animals but die like angels".
Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu was born in Skopje — at the time, part of the Ottoman Empire. After eighteen years, she moved to Ireland and then to India, where she lived most of her life.
In 1979 she received the Nobel Peace Prize and after her death was canonised as Saint Teresa.
