Dedicated to 30th anniversary of the deaths of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, both judges that were assassinated and have since became an iconic symbol of the struggle against Cosa Nostra.

The obverse is a depiction of the famous photo of the two Italian judges, taken by the photographer Tony Gentile, and often used on posters and articles commemorating the fight against the Mafia. Above, the arch-shaped inscription “FALCONE – BORSELLINO”; below, the dates “1992 2022”, the year of death of both judges and that of the coin’s issue, respectively, with the acronym of the Italian Republic “RI” in between; on the right, “R”, identifying the Mint of Rome; on the left, “VdS”, initials of the designer Valerio de Seta; around, the twelve stars of the European Union.
