The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and also known as Paris 2024, is an upcoming international multi-sport event scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in Paris, France.

The coin is presented in a sealed coincard with five different color options, similar to the colors of the Olympic rings. No circulating version will be issued for this 2 euro.

To mark the countdown to the opening of the Games, Monnaie de Paris will issue a 2 euro commemorative coin each year for four consecutive years, starting in 2021. These coins will highlight the Olympic Games through famous French numismatic figures. This second coin features the Genie throwing a discus, overlooking the athletics stadium of the Games. The Arc de Triomphe is also featured in the background, symbolizing the city of Paris..

The reverse is the 2€ common reverse to all countries in Europe. The face value "2 euro" appears in front of the map of Europe.
