Grace Kelly was born on November 12, 1929, in Philadelphia in the United States.
Kelly decided to take acting lessons despite her parents’ advice. Spotted by Gary Cooper in the film, The Train Will Whistle Three Times in 1952, this launched her career in which she notably won the Oscar for best actress in 1955 in The Country Girl.
Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco met in 1955 during a photo session at the Prince's Palace during the Cannes Film Festival. The actress agreed to leave the film industry at the age of 27 to marry him on April 18, 1956. Three children were born from this union: Caroline, Albert and Stephanie.
Tragically, Grace Kelly died in a car accident on September 13, 1982 (at the age of 52) while driving her car with her daughter Stephanie, then 17 years old. |
