The Classic proof coin set contains the only coin denomination that has been minted for 2021, namely the 20-krone. The 2021 20-krone celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Protestant Norwegian lay preacher Hans Nielsen Hauge.

The coin is dated 2021 and is minted to the highest PROOF quality, as is the base metal mint medal.

Hans Nielsen Hauge (1771-1824) was a Lutheran lay preacher who founded Norway’s first populist revival movement, the Haugeans. They helped institute changes in Norway during the first half of the 19th century, leading to a modernization of religion, politics, and economy based on values such as hard work, benevolence, and self-discipline.

After Norway became independent in 1814, the Haugeans were influential with their support for education, liberalism, democracy, and rule-of-law.

Authorities and clergy viewed Hauge as a threat and he was imprisoned in 1804. Upon his release in 1814, he was in poor health and died in 1824 at age 53.

Also included is the official mint medal honoring king Olav V, which is clad in 99.9% fine gold.
