The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and also known as Paris 2024, is an upcoming international multi-sport event scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in Paris, France.
The coin is presented in a sealed coincard with five different color options, similar to the colors of the Olympic rings. No circulating version will be issued for this 2 euro.
To mark the countdown to the opening of the Games, Monnaie de Paris will issue a 2 euro commemorative coin each year for four consecutive years, starting in 2021. These coins will highlight the Olympic Games through famous French numismatic figures. This first coin presents a sprinting Marianne, superimposed on top of the athletics stadium. The Eiffel Tower is also featured, symbolizing the city of Paris.
The reverse is the 2€ common reverse to all countries in Europe. The face value "2 euro" appears in front of the map of Europe.
