In 2021, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Starter Kit and the introduction of the first euros, Monnaie de Paris is paying tribute to the Sower from a new angle.

The reverse represents two different sowers: The first one, in the background, is the original Sower by the French engraver Oscar Roty, the one that was found on the 1 Franc coins since 1898. The second one, in the foreground, is the original portrait of the woman who inspired Roty, Rosalinda Pesce. This is the first time she appears on a coin.

The rectangular shape is a tribute to the shape of the starter kit pouch. The 40 coins contained in the original starterkit can be found on the obverse.
