This New Year's issue from the Austrian Mint celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Vienna Music Society.

This year's traditional Austrian New Year coin is dedicated to the Musikverein in Vienna. The famous music building is unparalleled in both acoustics and architecture. The reverse shows part of the room and the statue of the Greek god Apollo.

The obverse indicates the five-euro denomination of the issue. Surrounding this feature are nine shields that represent the nine federal provinces of Austria. Inscribed along the rim of the design is REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH and EURO.
