In honor of World Bee Day, which will be marked for the first time on May 20 in 2018, based on a Slovenian initiative, Slovenia has issued a 2 euro commemorative coin.

On the obverse, Earth is depicted as a honeycomb. The empty honeycomb cells represent the seas, while land is depicted by the filled-in honeycomb cells.
