This is the sixth and last issue dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Brothers Grimm and their fables (1812-2012) and features the fable of the "Town Musicians of Bremen".

In the story a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster, all past their prime years in life and usefulness on their respective farms, leave their homes and set out together. They decide to go to Bremen, known for its freedom, to live without owners and become musicians there. In the tale, the characters never actually arrive in Bremen but find a new and better home together along the way.

The first volume of the Children’s and Household Tales was published on 20 December 1812 by the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. In 2005, this collection of fairy tales was been inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, and thus forms part of the world's documentary heritage.

The new coin is the sixth and last in a series that was begun in 2012 to commemorate Grimm's Children’s and Household Tales. Previous coins have featured the Brothers Grimm, Snow White, Hansel & Gretel, Sleeping Beauty and Little Red Riding Hood.

The obverse shows an image of the animals standing on each other's backs, symbolizing the scene in the story where they have to work together to peek in a window of their eventual new home.

The reverse features an eagle framed by the words "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND, the value and denomination, the letter "J" for the federal mint in Hamburg, the year 2017 and the 12 stars of the European Flag. In addition, the words "SILBER 925" are minted on the coin.
