This coin commemorates the long, eventful and moving history of an Association whose lifeguards, both men and women, have leapt into the breach whenever people were in jeopardy in the North and Baltic Seas.
The coin’s obverse portrays the key life-saving symbols, lifeboat and Hanseatic cross, fused into a unified figuration.
The reverse features an eagle framed by the inscription “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the value and denomination, the letter “J” for the Hamburg Mint, the year 2015, and the twelve stars of Europe.
