This issue marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of German sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow (1764-1850).

Over the course of more than 50 years, Schadow produced upwards of two hundred works, as varied in style as in subjects, among them the world-famous Quadriga of Victory located atop the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

The coin shows a portrait of Schadow along with some of his well-known works.
