The Central Bank of Malta has issued the second coin in a series of €2 Commemorative coins to highlight milestones in Malta’s Constitutional History. The theme for this coin is "Majority Representation – 1887". In that year, an elected majority materialized with the granting of Representative Government.

The €2 commemorative coin has only been issued with a low limit of 430,000 coins (375,000 uncirculated in rolls, 50,000 in the BU set and 5,000 in proof quality).
