Issued on May 29, this is the 11th coin in the series featuring ships as its common theme, and is dedicated to the now defunct ferry, King Frederik IX.

The ferry King Frederik IX was launched in December 1954, and was the largest ferry in the world at that time. It trafficked multiple routes between Denmark and Germany. It was decommissioned in 1997, and operated as a museum ferry until it was destroyed in 2005.

The reverse depicts the ferry King Frederik IX. The obverse design features the portrait of the Queen by sculptor Lis Nogel.
