Issued on November 10, this coin commemorates the 20th anniversary of the non-violent revolution in the former Czechoslovakia.
The term Velvet Revolution
was used internationally to describe the
non-violent revolution in former
Czechoslovakia. After the dissolution of the
nation in 1993, Slovakia used the term
Gentle Revolution, the term Slovaks used
for the revolution from the beginning.
The design shows a bunch of keys forming
the bobbin of a bell - a symbol of the
noise people made with their keys to open
the iron curtain door to freedom and
democracy.
