This issue in the series called âÃ
Historical Cities in Polandâ features the ancient â and still inhabited â town of Lomza in north-eastern Poland. The Series will contain 32 coins commemorating cities significant in the history of Poland, and playing an important role in the administrative structure of the State. Lomza was first chronicled in the 14th century and received its city rights in 1428. Located on the Narew and Komzyczka rivers in the west-central plains of Podlaskie, it lies midway between the cities of Ostroleka and Bialystok. The local economy is dependent upon food processing and textile manufacturing.
