2005 Denmark 20Kr UNC Coin "Landet Church"

Issued on January 28, this issue is the sixth in the series celebrating Danish towers and features Landet church tower in Taasinge.

Landet church is a classic Danish small town church, which was constructed under king Valdemar approx. 1150-1200. In 1634, the church was remodeled with a tower and an armory.

Designed by sculptor Øivind Nygaard, the reverse features a depiction of the church tower stretching skyward, as seen through the leafs of the surrounding chestnut trees. The heart and pistol that is weaved into the foliage symbolizes the unhappy love story between Elvira Madigan and Sixten Sparre, whom both are buried in the church's cemetery. The obverse features the portrait of Queen Margrethe II modeled by sculptor Mogens Møller.

This circulation quality coin is minted in aluminum-bronze and measures 27 mm in diameter and weighs 9.3 grams.

The worldwide mintage limit is 1.2 million pcs.
