2004 Portugal €5 Silver Proof Coin "Evora's Historic Center"

This issue from the Portuguese Mint introduces a series of coins to be issued in honor of the Portuguese World Heritage Sites, and celebrates the Historic Center of the town of Evora.

Added to the UNESCO list in 1986, this museum-city, which roots go back to Roman times, reached its golden age in the 15th century when it became the residence of the Portuguese kings. Its unique quality stems from the whitewashed houses decorated with azaleas and wrought-iron balconies dating from the 16th to the 18th century. Its monuments had a profound influence on Portuguese architecture in Brazil.

Designed by Eloisa Byrne, the coin is minted in proof quality in 92.5% sterling silver. It measures 30 mm in diameter and weighs 14 grams.

The worldwide mintage limit is 10,000 pcs, and the item comes delivered encapsulated in a wooden box and sleeve with a certificate of authenticity.
