This issue honors Hélène Dutrieu, the first female Belgian pilot, who died 50 years ago in 1961. A daredevil is every sense of the word, Hélène Dutrieu also excelled in cycling and motocycling.

Hélène Dutrieu was known as the "girl hawk" of aviation because she was the most daring and accomplished woman pilot of her time. She first flew solo in France in 1909 and within a year she became the first Belgian woman to receive a pilot license, setting altitude and distance records at the same time. During her second year as an aviator. Hélène Dutrieu, also excelled as cycling world champion, stunt cyclist, stunt motorcyclist, automobile racer, stunt driver, pioneer aviator, wartime ambulance driver, and director of a military hospital.
