This issue will be released on January 4, 2010 and commemorates that Spain holds the Presidency of the European Union from January 2010 that will be shared until June 2011 with Belgium and Hungary. The Presidential Trio promises new, close co-operation on unprecedented tasks, which also take into account the new provisions of the Lisbon Treaty. To commemorate this event a 10 Euro silver proof coin will be issued at the beginning of 2010.

As is customary, the obverse depicts King Juan Carlos I of Spain.
