    This annual brilliant uncirculated year set features the base metal $5 coin depicting the Maui's dolphin, as well as the five standard circulating coins (10c, 20c, 50c, $1 & $2).

    Easily identified by its distinctive round dorsal fin, it can be seen in water less than 60 feet deep – demonstrating a playful agility and keen intelligence that makes it a delight to watch. Tragically though, the Maui's dolphin is living on the knife edge of survival, and is now listed as ‘critically endangered’ by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. This is hardly surprising given that there are only about 111 still living in the wild, and that the very factors that have seen the dolphin’s numbers dramatically depleted still continue to threaten its daily existence.
