Chinese astrology features a 12-year cycle of animals, referred to as the Chinese Zodiac. (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog & Pig). Each individual personality is associated with an animal which represents it, and there are 90 different combinations. According to fortune-telling in Chinese astrology, it is said that the position of the five major planets - Venus (metal or gold), Jupiter (Wood), Mercury (Water), Mars (Fire), and Saturn (Earth) - along with the positions of the Sun, Moon, any comets in the sky, as well as time of birth and Zodiac Sign, can determine a person's destiny. French writer Jean de la Fontaine published his first collection of animal fables in 1668, with the second collection spanning the years 1678 and 1679. The last part was not added until many years later. A fable is a brief story, in prose or verse, that features animals, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature which are given human qualities, and that illustrates a moral lesson.
