The theme for this year’s souvenir coin set is Hamarøy – the peninsula that became author Knut Hamsun’s own Wonderland. His close ties to the area of his childhood makes it the perfect central theme for books such as “Growth of the Soil”, “Pan” and “Victoria”.

Through his books, Hamsun has detailed a Wonderland that people from all over the world still want to experience. At Hamarøy you can visit his childhood home, Hamsund, Skogheim manor that he ran with his wife, Marie, between 1911-1917, and the newly opened Knut Hamsun center at Presteid with its breathtaking architecture.
