All Belgian euro coins show the effigy of King Albert II encircled by the twelve stars of the European Union, with the royal monogram (capital 'A' and crown) in the inner part of the coin – not in the outer ring as previously – together with the mint marks and the abbreviation of the country name (‘BE’). The Belgian euro coins were designed by Jan Alfons Keustermans and chosen by a panel made up of high-ranked officials, experts in numismatics and artists. In 2008, Belgium made a slight modification to the design of its national sides in order to comply with the common guidelines recommended by the European Commission.

Our Lady of Flanders' Cathedral of Tournai is one of the most important architectural monuments in Belgium. It has been classified both as a Wallonia's major heritage and as a World Heritage Site.
