This issue celebrates the Korean folk circle dance also known as Ganggangsullae.

Ganggangsullae is a group circle dance widely performed in the south coast in Jeollanamdo and its islands. Generally, it is performed on a full moon day in August, however, there are some regions where Ganggangsullae are performed on a full moon day in lunar January. It is assumed that Ganggangsullae began in the ancient agricultural period when they sang and danced in the seed-time and harvest-time festivals. Ganggangsullae is a representative of Korean women, full of female emotion and rhythmical beauty. The circle dance performed under the bright full moon day in lunar August signifies their leaping vitality.
