Issued on February 26, this is the second issue in the series with the Polar regions as common theme. The series will comprise three releases and is launched to mark the International Polar Year 2007-2009. All polar coins will have motifs inspired by the Polar areas of Greenland.

The reverse design is inspired by the Sirius dog sled patrol and the "Canis Major" constellation with Sirius as its brightest (alpha) star. The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Margaret in profile.
