Issued on April 25, this is the first coin in a new series featuring ships as its common theme. The first coin in the series honors the return of the Galathea 3 expedition to Danish shores, and the surveillance vessel "Vædderen" (the Ram).

The participants in the Galathea 3 expedition have been circumnavigating the globe since August 2006, and docked in Langelinie port on April 25, 2007. It is the largest Danish research expedition in more than 50 years and its objective was to promote Danish research.
