This set celebrates the lift locks of Canal du Centre, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the 90th anniversary of their completion. The set features the eight standard circulating euro coins, as well as a medallion illustrating one of the lift locks.

The four lift locks of Canal du Centre have not stopped functioning since they opened nearly a century ago. They are the oldest lift locks anywhere that are still operating. Beginning in the 1990's the locks underwent a major update with a view to accommodating increasing volumes of tourist traffic.
