Issued on June 1, this is the first commemorate €2 coin from Finland, and celebrates the enlargement of the European Union by ten member countries in 2004.

The design features the words EU to the left of a small stylized pillar shape, representing the previous European Union. Stemming from the pillar shape are leafy sprouts symbolizing the growth and enlargement of the European Union, the foundation for growth. Around the rim are twelve stars representing the original members of the European Monetary Union. The obverse side of the coin is the same as the obverse side of the ordinary €2 coin.
