This is the second coin set from the Bank of Latvia, featuring coins from many year dates. The 1 Santims was minted by the Monnaie de Paris (French Mint) in 2003, the 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Santims by the German Mint in Munich in 1992, the 1 Lats with the ant by the Mint of Finland in 2003, and finally the 2 Lats by the British Royal Mint in 2003.

The 1 Lats coin features the industrious ant.

Latvia is expected to adopt the euro in 2010, at the earliest.
