2000 Latvia 1Ls Silver Proof Coin "Earth"

This 1-lats silver commemorative coin is the first in a series commemorating eternal values, which in turn is a part of a four-series coin programme called "Latvia. Times and Values".

The obverse of the coin is composed of ornaments symbolizing the constituent parts of the world: the earth, the sky, natural phenomena, the seasonal and diurnal changes, whereas the reverse shows a stylized representation of the Latvian landscape with a threshing barn, which stands for the earth's riches and affluence.

This sterling silver proof coin weighs 31.47 grams and has a diameter of 38.61 mm. The artists are Juris Petraskevics and Ligita Franckevica, and the coin has been struck by the Mint of Finland.
